When all else fails, try this.

Now here’s a loaded question. What does it take to truly change your health lifestyle? Google this question and you will come up with a multitude of answers. There is never a shortage of information on transformative exercises and nutritional supplementation. Where has our OWN intelligent trust and knowledge of self-gone?

It is mind boggling to read all the newest fads in the health industry. To keep up with the competitive changing health industry, businesses must be in constant renewal of their information. I am an advocate in the mindset that change is positive and the only constant in this wonder-filled world, but sometimes it can be a little overwhelming. I am a true believer in the wisdom of the ancestral lifestyle. Spend some time with elders to gain insight into their wise advice. Some of their words and actions may resonate with you, as you may have heard them over the years from your own family. Simplicity, gratitude and hard work seem to be a constant in their lifestyle. Eat in moderation, take time to prepare fresh foods for your family, keep the body moving through physical movement, (walk, garden, yard work, housework)and live and thankful life.

Today’s lifestyle has changed dramatically and we tend to be in a chaotic state of busy-ness. With the intention of making life flow a little easier, SCHEDULING and PREPPING can be a godsend. How do we do this? Here’s an example of a daily routine that has been formulated. All aspects of leading a simple yet focused and goal oriented thankful existence are laid out. It has been stated that repetition is the mother of skill and can lead to life changing habits. By making the intention to switch old thought patterns into new and energetic habits, one must repeat over and over again until the mind believes. Once the mind believes, it will start to draw in more healthy experiences into daily life.

The sample day below can be written down on a recipe card or piece of paper. Carry with you and ensure you read it when you wake up in the morning and before you go to bed at night. They say it takes 21 days to form a new habit, but what they don’t mention is that without a burning desire to change and follow through, change is only temporary.

SAMPLE DAY: (food menu, mantra’s, breathing and gratitude reminders)

“Take small steps daily to increase fruits and vegetables”

  • Wake up and say THANK YOU 3 times

  • Take 3 deep breaths

  • Get in 30 min of exercise

Breakfast: Smoothie recipe- 1 cup frozen cherries, 1 cup packed fresh spinach, 1 TBSP Chia Seeds, ½ banana, 1 cup Almond Milk/Coconut/milk of choice OR 500 ml water.

Lunch: Salad- Spinach, red pepper, cucumber, tomatoes. Top with chicken, turkey or legumes. Condiment- Fig balsamic vinegar

Snack: Sliced apple topped with almond butter

Dinner: Green steamed veggies, ½ potato, and 1 chicken breast. Condiment- Salsa

Evening:

  • While lying in bed, take 3 deep breaths

  • Write all the things that you are grateful for in life in your journal

Why not take the lead on your own health? Practice simplicity through preparation and the understanding that you are in charge of your choices and outcomes. Life is simple but we sometimes make it out to be more complex than it is. Prepping and bringing your own foods to work, exercising daily and being thankful for your life at this moment in time may help align you with your vision.

***With any change in life, it takes time to adjust. Depending on how focused and passionate the intention, we can either trudge through, resisting every step of the way, or find ways to ease into it.

There is an underlying beauty in us that can be found in change. Change I believe is the only constant in this world.
