SETTING THE DESTINATION FOR 2016

The end of 2015 is coming to an end. The excitement of change is in the air. How are you setting yourself up for success in the years ahead? Perhaps you are in the process of making some New Year’s resolutions or going with a more organic mindset of letting things come naturally. Whatever the case may be your vision, attitude and lifestyle can either work for you, or against you.

Why is it that people make New Year’s resolutions? Perhaps it's the excitement for change and the intention of working towards a goal that brings forth strength and passion. Whatever the case may be, the drive and motivation dissipates over time. I'm not speaking for everyone, but for most there is truth in these words. There is a global consciousness for change that sweeps over the world, embracing it with endurance and driving it along its destination. Then, all of a sudden, a wave of self- doubt and perhaps lack of will wash over, takes hold of our vision, and sets it course to an abandoned island. Sound familiar?

So how can we set the intention to change with a lasting impression? There are a few tools that are helpful for the journey ahead. We are perfect where we are in life, but if our soul wants change, then we set our mind to it, and we don't settle for anything less. We say to ourselves, "and this is so!" Listed below are a few tools that may help carve out intentions and have a lasting effect.

  • If our thirst for change is aligned with our value system, then it may be easier to attain. Myers Briggs testing is a tool to get insight into our personalities. You can get more information on www.myersbriggs.org. Learning about ourselves and finding out what drives our decisions can lead to life changing momentum.

  • Write a LIFE mission statement. How do we want to live life? Write down what moves your soul and brings you joy.

  • Take the superficial out of your super soul. There is nothing superficial about us. We can choose to let others see our outer selves based on past experiences, or we can show them the wonderful and loving soul that we are. We are spiritual beings having a human experience in this game of life. We have been blessed with the intelligence of divine universal truths. Stop and listen to the whispers of your soul. What gift do you have to offer in this lifetime?

  • Forgive and Forget. Have you ever heard the term, I'll forgive, but I will never forget?" Those words attach fear to the outcome. We cannot move the fear out of our souls without forgetting. Forgive without attachment.

  • Ask for advice and empty the cup. When we empty our minds each and every morning, we are open to receiving new information. Base your decisions on new information and not the comfort of past patterning.

  • Ask yourself, "How you I serve?" This question takes a selfless approach. By helping others, I will create a wave of inspiration that will hopefully help others.

  • Wake up and go to sleep with an attitude of gratitude.

We hold the power to create lasting change in our lives, and the lives of others. If we set our destination with our own value system, our course of action will stay aligned and focussed. We have the choice in how we want to live and what we want to accomplish. It's our responsibility to take our own course of action while uplifting those around us. Grab hold of 2016 with a new found lust for life knowing that we can create a spark and light the way for ourselves and others.
